We’ve all heard the myths in one form or another. Botox can freeze your face. It’s toxic to your body. It will never wear off. The thing is, the most prevalent myths about Botox are just that- myths. Like many new things, people sometimes believe that something that sounds too good to be true must have something to hide. We are here to tell you otherwise.
Despite the negative stigma, Botox has served patients as an incredible age prevention method for years on end, something that we know first-hand. Here at Malena M. Amato Eyelid & Facial Plastic Surgery Associates, we believe so much in the benefits of Botox that we’d like to dispel some of the most popular myths surrounding this fantastic treatment.
Myths:
Botox will freeze your face
Simply put, Botox will absolutely not freeze your face. It will temporarily relax the muscles in your face, which will help you develop any additional aging lines for the duration that it is in effect. The toxin in Botox serves as a neuroinhibitory agent that will block your nerve endings for several months.
Botox is toxic to your body
Despite the fact that Botox is derived from a toxin, the actual amount that we will inject into your body is not nearly enough to cause any sort of harm to your body. When injections are precisely measured and administered by a team of experts, there’s virtually nothing to worry about.
Botox will never wear off
Botox is not some magical “facelift toxin.” Well, sort of, but it only lasts several months. After Botox wears off, you will be totally back to normal, only you’ll have fewer wrinkles and lines than you would have had if you didn’t have Botox injections. If you like your results, we recommend that you consider implementing a regular treatment schedule.
Botox will reverse aging and add volume to your face
While Botox will be very useful in preventing the signs of aging, it is not necessarily designed to reverse the signs of aging. It will relax your face, which will make you look younger to an extent, but its primary superpower is that it significantly prevents new wrinkles, lines, and other natural signs of aging. Other treatments like dermal fillers look to add volume that can diminish wrinkles and give you a more youthful glow.
