What To Expect Before and After an RF Microneedling Treatment?
At your initial appointment, we will ask questions about your medical history and what your expectations are surrounding your RF microneedling results. Your procedure will take place in one of the comfortable and chic rooms at our Austin, TX office. Generally, here is what you can expect from an RF microneedling appointment:
- Your skin expert will thoroughly cleanse your skin.
- A topical anesthetic will be applied to the targeted area before your procedure to ensure that you feel no pain throughout the duration of your treatments.
- Once your skin is thoroughly numb, we will begin the microneedling process creating tiny wounds in the skin. Simultaneously, the tip of the needle releases radio frequency waves into the wounds, heating the skin from beneath in order to trigger more collagen production faster.
- Once the procedure is finished, a solution to support cell regeneration will be applied along with a soothing solution to minimize any discomfort.
Once your procedure is finished, you are free to go home and return to your normal activities. Some redness, swelling, and discomfort are not uncommon in the first 24 hours after your treatment. Over the next week, the pain and swelling should be gone, and your skin will begin to go through a scabbing phase. You mustn’t pick, peel, or scratch at your skin during this period, as it is necessary for the turnover of new cells. Allow the scabs to peel off on their own to help prevent scabbing and to get the full benefits of your treatment.
