Sculptra® Injections | Anti-Aging, Collagen-Inducing Dermal Filler in Austin, TX

Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers are continuously among the most popular non-surgical facial contouring and anti-aging treatments in the aesthetic industry. While traditional dermal fillers are fantastic at smoothing away lines, filling wrinkles, and restoring volume to the face, what most dermal filler products cannot do is inwardly improve the quality of your skin for longer-lasting anti-aging results.

Sculptra® by Galderma utilizes powerful ingredients that trigger your skin’s natural collagen production to improve the health of your skin and the quality of your complexion in just a few treatments. Our incredibly talented aesthetic nurse injector, Laura Boyer, RN, uses Sculptra® to provide long-lasting improvements to the health, quality, and appearance of your skin.

What Is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is an innovative, FDA-approved biostimulatory filler that helps to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production for healthier, stronger, more youthful skin. What sets Sculptra® apart from the variety of other dermal fillers currently on the market is that it is made to address the underlying causes of aging instead of just simply treating the symptoms and effects of aging, which means you get more natural-looking results that last 3 to 5 times longer than traditional fillers and neurotoxins like Botox®.

What Are the Ingredients in Sculptra®, and How Does It Work?

Sculptra® is made from biocompatible, biodegradable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a compound naturally found in the body that stimulates collagen production and encourages the body to gradually create more over time.

Unlike hyaluronic acid-based fillers, Sculptra® provides your body with the tools it needs to combat the effects of aging. Once injected into the skin, Sculptra® gets to work kickstarting the synthesis process to help restore your skin’s inner structures, mainly the fibroblasts. Over time, this helps to improve your skin’s overall texture, correct deep lines and wrinkles, and increase facial volume in the cheeks and around the eyes.

What Are the Benefits of Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is growing in its versatility and is capable of treating a wide range of aging and skin concerns, including:

  • Restoring volume and fullness to hollow cheeks
  • Improving facial folds, lines, and dynamic wrinkles
  • Correcting deep facial folds and lines on the face and neck
  • Rebuilding volume in the temples, cheeks, chin, and jawline
  • Revitalizing the overall texture and tone of the complexion

What Happens During a Sculptra® Treatment?

The administration process for Sculptra® is very similar to that of a dermal filler session. After you arrive at our Austin practice, you’ll be led to a private treatment room. We will first cleanse your skin of all makeup, lotions, or oils. Then, the injection locations will be marked on your skin with a felt-tipped pen. An aesthetic cream can be applied to the treatment areas to help make the injection process as painless as possible. Finally, a strategic amount of Sculptra® will be injected into the desired areas. Our highly trained and professional RN, Laura Boyer, uses her exceptional experience and skill to avoid over-filling the face and instead create natural, beautiful results.

Generally, Sculptra® treatments are painless and require no downtime, though you may notice some mild tenderness, bruising, or redness around the injection sites after your appointment. These symptoms tend to fade naturally over the next few days. You can resume your normal daily activities immediately after having your Sculptra® injections.

Who Makes a Good Candidate for Sculptra® Injections?

Whether you are looking to add youthful volume to your face, treat deep lines and facial wrinkles, or want to improve the overall texture and appearance of your complexion, Sculptra® is potentially a great fit for your next aesthetic treatment. The long-lasting, natural-looking results Sculptra® offers are a great choice among patients in their early twenties to their early eighties.

Sculptra® is considered safe for most individuals. However, it isn’t recommended for those who have serious health conditions, compromised immune systems, bleeding disorders, or women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s also important to mention that while Sculptra® can boost volume and contour the face, it cannot reduce sagging skin or serious skin ptosis, which may require more invasive measures like surgery. If sagging skin is a serious concern of yours, consider talking to one of our plastic surgeons about pairing your Sculptra® treatment with a customized facelift, eyelid lift, or brow lift.

How Long Do the Effects of Sculptra® Last?

In the world of dermal fillers, Sculptra® has some seriously long-lasting effects. Most of our clients appreciate their Sculptra® results for around 20 to 25 months, but some see rejuvenating results that last up to three years.

Results will vary based on many factors, including the patient’s age, metabolism, and how fast their body breaks down the Sculptra® ingredients; however, you can expect your Sculptra® treatment to last longer than traditional injections, neurotoxins, or other skincare treatments.
